Flower Portraits

“There are always flowers for those who want to see them.”

- Henri Matisse

I photograph everything on 4x5 film, preserving the exquisite nature of each of the flowering subject as precisely as if pressed into the pages of a book.

For years, I’ve collected 19th century lithographs, and pages from text books on 19th century masters such as Renoir, and Monet. I use them in my photographs to punctuate the images and draw parallels of color, tone, and texture.
